Many people know Indianapolis as the world’s racing capital because it is the home to the World’s highest-attended single day events. These events include the U.S. Grand Prix Formula One RACE, Indy 400 and the Brickyard 400. However, this is not all that this great city has to offer. 3. Visit the Indiana World War Memorial 

The Indiana World War Memorial is a magnificent square monument that reminds the locals and visitors about the folly of the war and a place to honor the soldiers who lost their lives in the war. The monument has three floors and a Shrine room on the third floor that is built using materials from all over the world. The Word War Memorial also hosts a museum that is dedicated to the soldiers of Indiana. This is a cool place to visit and learn more about the role of Indiana during the War.

4. Visit Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site 

For those whole love learning about U.S history, Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site is a must visit place. Benjamin was elected 23rd president of the U.S. in 1888 and died in the city of Indianapolis in 1901. This was his home that played a very important role in his campaign for the presidency. The sixteen-room Italianate Victorian design house is open to the public where you can learn more about Benjamin’s skills as a lawyer, his reputation as a military leader as well as his conservation efforts. Several events are hosted in the house throughout the year and you can participate in some of them if you are lucky.

5. Visit the White River State Park 

The White River State Park is a lovely place where you can have quality time with your kids and escape from the busy city life of downtown Indianapolis. The place is so cool that many people hardly believe they are in the downtown Indianapolis after entering the park. Some of the key attractions that you can visit in the park include a zoo, NCAA hall of champions, Eiteljorg Museum and a baseball park among others. This is a lovely place to spend a casual afternoon.

6. Have Some Fun at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

For those who love car races, this is one of the country’s most celebrated car racing arena that you cannot afford to ignore visiting during your stay in the city. The motor speedway hosts some of the most legendary car races in the country that will give you and your kids memorable experiences and maximum fun.

7. Visit the State Capitol Building 

The Indiana State Capitol, popularly known as the Statehouse, is on one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. The building was constructed in the Renaissance Revival style in 1988 and has been used ever since. For those who love unique ancient buildings, this is a must visit place. Here you get an opportunity to view some amazing interior finishing, granite columns and marble floors. The grounds of this building are pleasantly landscaped with historical monuments that make it unique from other buildings in the city.

8. Visit the Eagle Creek & Nature Preserve 

The Eagle Creek Park and Nature Preserve Indianapolis is one of the largest municipal parks in the country. Some of the recreational activities in the park include bird watching, hiking, sailing, windsurfing, fishing and nature walks among others. This is a lovely place to spend sunny weekends with your family.
